Company Information - History of 3tc

3tc's roots date back more than 10 years to the creation of Sefton Neighbourhood Initiative Project (SNIP). Working out of a school classroom in a disadvantaged area of Merseyside with just one member of staff, SNIP provided training, print & design services to local community groups.

Over the years, the business grew, enabling SNIP to expand its range of services in the fields of training and communications as well as in recycling redundant computers for the voluntary sector.

In 2000, SNIP was awarded a grant of £4.69m from the government's Single Regeneration Budget, which provided the catalyst for the organisation's main period of growth. This involved the acquisition of a new building and the establishment of a state-of-the-art flagship technology centre for the third sector.

In 2002 SNIP changed its name to Merseyside Third Sector Technology Centre (3tc). This was a vital to our wider vision of providing a wide range of services to groups and communities across Merseyside.

From modest beginnings the company employs a full range of staff with specialist skills. As a consequence 3tc now has the capacity to make a significant and lasting impact on the community.

We continue to innovate in pursuit of our objectives, ensuring the services provided are demand-led. 3tc is working to bridge the 'digital divide' by advancing the understanding and use of ICT in the Third Sector for communities and organisations tackling social exclusion.
