3tc House welcomes new tenants

The spring and summer months have been an extemely busy period for 3tc's Facilities department as four new tenants: Local Solutions, Personal Service Society, the Royal Liverpool Childrens NHS Trust's Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service and VEDC have moved into 3tc House. This is another step in 3tc's ambition to make 3tc House a VCFS and Community oriented 'hub'. The new tenants join our established mix of large and small tenants that include Adult Dyslexia, Housing Initiatives, Mainstream Imagine, Padwork, People First, Sefton Council for Voluntary Service and Sightline.

Virtual Office autumn launch and building naming ceremony

3tc's trading arm, 3tc Solutions Limited aims to launch Virtual Office facilities for South Sefton new business start-ups and small businesses in the Autumn. This exciting new activity will be publicised during the naming ceremony for the building which the charity hopes to hold during the same period. We wish to see 16 Crosby Road become known as '3tc House' and associated with a range of like-minded organisations dedicated to offering help and support to the more vulnerable members of our society. For further details about our forthcoming Virtual Office facilities please visit our new 3tc House Virtual Office website.

St. Helens Satellite Office relocates from Peter Street to The Leaf Centre

After an enjoyable and productive stay during the last two years, 3tc's Satellite Office presence at the Peter Street Community Centre in St. Helens has now come to an end. During our occupation we were able to support a range of VCFS and community organisations. In addition 3tc's Training department delivered ICT taster sessions, provided a progression route into formal qualifications, ran several classes focussing on digital media as well as providing a Computer Club for local residents. Our Satellite Office has now moved to The Leaf Centre in Cannon Street.

ICT Services launches new Flexible Maintenance Plan

ICT Services has launched a new Flexible Maintenance Plan (FMP) for small charities. Research undertaken by 3tc including an internal sales analysis as well as the Strategic Development Advisors project and data gathered as part of the Change Up supported Local Evidence Review revealed the need for the provision of imaginative maintenance support. The three key elements of the FMP are a much lower fee for the provision of cover for individual pieces of equipment, access to a telephone support line and discounted hourly support rates for FMP registered customers. If you require further information please get in touch via our Contact Us page.

Big Lottery BASIS project continues

Following approval of its Stage Two application 3tc is continuing to work on its Big Lottery funded pilot project under the auspices of the Building and Sustaining Infrastructure Services (BASIS) programme. The pilot is designed to build on and improve the ChangeUp funded Strategic Development Advisors (SDA) intervention administered by 3tc during 2005/06 and is seeking to deliver an improved Information Communications Technology (ICT) strategy to 30 VCFS organisations across Greater Merseyside. Informed by the results of the earlier SDA intervention the strategy, rather than focus solely on ICT considerations, will signpost organisations (where appropriate) to the latest sectoral developments in other areas where weaknesses are identified. For example problems with the likes of performance improvement; workforce development and leadership; governance; and volunteer recruitment and development can all inhibit long-term strategic development. Acquisition of much-needed knowledge in these areas will make the implementation of the ICT strategy (and the associated adoption of formalised policies and procedures) that much more likely.

3tc prepares to submit Area Based Grant application to St. Helens MBC

3tc is preparing to submit a bid shortly to St. Helens MBC to provide ICT training, delivered predominantly from Chester Lane and other community-based venues across the borough. The objective is to increase the proportion of working age residents in WNF areas qualified to at least Level 2 or higher. This will be achieved by offering such residents a choice of Level 2 qualifications. The target groups will be males aged 19 to 64 and females aged 19 to 59. Over two-years 3tc will run eight courses comprising eighteen sessions each and the proposed outcomes will be sixty-four working age residents qualified to at least Level 2 by the end of the project.

As a consequence the Print & Design department has relocated to the back offices on the ground floor. Any customers who have previously visited the department to discuss their individual design requirements should now report to Reception.

3tc prepares to submit Big Lottery FACTS bid

As part of our commitment to bringing technological equality to all sections of society 3tc is preparing a Big Lottery bid entitled Families and Computer Training Support (FACTS). Advantaged, two-parent families typically see home PC’s as a vital family learning tool. However disadvantaged adults face barriers actively participating in, and supporting, their childrens learning in this way e.g. by not having a computer at home; having little or no computer skills possibly as a result of negative educational experiences; in the case of one-parent families, especially comprising single fathers, simply finding enough quality learning time to have with their children; and families who either have non-resident fathers or those who only play a limited role in their children's upbringing. ‘FACTS’ will help address such barriers. Beneficiaries will obtain a PC for family use; quality learning time will be provided as the parent or carer and child build the computer together at 3tc House, where refreshments and support towards travel costs will be provded. Associated training on how to use the PC will help adults overcome any negative educational experiences and gain practical experience of using computers in a friendly, welcoming environment. Crucially 'FACTS' is designed to have impact well beyond the projects expiry date. Children will benefit from the joint learning experience and of course have ongoing access to the PC at home. Other members of the family such as siblings will also be able to use the PC. In additon adults will be able to actively participate in, and support their childrens learning activities as well as raise their own personal aspirations.
