Refurbished Conference Room launch

During the autumn of 2010 3tc is re-launching its meeting room facilities following the refurbishment of its Conference Room. Jackie Kemp-Ellis, 3tc's Chief Officer said "Many Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector organisations do not have access to good quality but affordable meeting room facilities. We want to encourage the sector to access the excellent facilities we have available in 3tc House, that is already an established community-based hub".

In addition to a new barrel-shaped table and 20 soft cantilever-framed chairs the main Conference Room has now been fitted out with an interactive SMART Board and associated Notebook software. This is complimented by a Windows 7 laptop that has Office productivity software, an integrated ceiling mounted data projector and wall mounted speakers. A tea/coffee/water and buffet lunch service with a choice of three set-menus is available upon request. 3tc House also comes with the benefit of a limited amount of free parking in a CCTV-protected car park.

The charity also has a smaller Syndicate Room that can be used either as a break-out room in conjunction with the Conference Room, or as a meeting room in its own right for smaller gatherings of up to eight people. In addition 3tc's ICT Training Suite is available for hire. This contains modern flat screen PC's with broadband internet access connected to network laser printers; has a range of software (including assistive technology) as well as other audio visual facilities.

Tender Resource Suite successfully demonstrated to NAVCA consultant

NAVCA have recently been looking for examples of best practice support to frontline organisations around the whole question of commissioning, procurement and tendering. 3tc together with Greater Merseyside ChangeUp Tendering and Procurement Support (TaPS) project staff recently successfully demonstrated its Tender Resource Suite (TRS) to NAVCA. The TRS involves using our recently refurbished Conference Room with its upgraded computer hardware/software resources and audio visual facilities together with additional dedicated data projectors, a networked printer and workgroup enabled laptops.By using these resources the Suite is designed to 'accelerate' the process of putting a tender together.

Three distinct packages are available: Tender Retreat for experienced organisations used to tendering who just need a quiet space to develop a submission without interruption with the benefit of on-site technical support; Tender Plus for organisations who wish to avail themselves of the facilities described above to put a submission together in an accelerated fashion; and Tender Premium for organisations who want all of the above and a facilitator to help guide them through the tender process.

IT Skills for Tendering Workshop launched

Greater Merseyside ChangeUp's TaPS project is running the PASSMARK initiative to try to help frontline organisations with their commissioning, tendering and procurement needs. Measures taken to-date have included creating a dedicated PASSMARK area on the popular Merseyside Funding Information Portal (MFIP); launching a combined MFIP/PASSMARK e-newsletter; providing training for infrastructure organisation staff accredited by the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply and the University of Central Lancashire; and launching a series of procurement and tendering workshops. 3tc has supported these initiatives including the provision of Presentation Skills training as part of the overall workshop programme.

The charity will deepen its involvement by delivering 4 two-day IT Skills for Tendering workshops. These have been designed to show the crucial role IT skills can play in researching, creating, editing, presenting and submitting material in a live tender scenario. Flexible Maintenance Plan offered to frontline organisations

ICT Services continues to offer its Flexible Maintenance Plan (FMP) for smaller charities. Rob Atherton, one of 3tc's ICT Technicians said "During a period of great economic uncertainty smaller charities in particular need to ensure that they have appropriate, affordable arrangements in place in the event of their critical IT systems going down". The FMP was designed with this very much in mind. Its three key elements are a much reduced fee for the provision of cover for individual pieces of equipment, access to a telephone helpline and discounted hourly support rates for FMP registered customers. 3tc supports Future Jobs Fund initiative

The Future Jobs Fund was designed to support the creation of jobs for long-term unemployed young people and others who face significant disadvantage in the labour market. Under the auspices of the fund 3tc has given a young person the chance to gain work experience by means of a placement. This will give them an insight into different aspects of the organisations work including 3tc's Reception, Training and ICT services.
