Graham Thomas, a local watercolour artist captures the beauty and majesty of the Scottish Highlands, both past and present, required a small site to showcase his work, and invite people to order prints of his work

large caption from highlandpaintings.co.uk The brief for the site was a simple showcase site for the artists work, nothing too fancy and with no backend required. It was in fact the first site that 3tc developed with the newly promoted web standards, way back in January 2005, and as such there was quite a learning curve involved. Nonetheless, the brief was fulfilled, and a simple, yet striking site was implemented for the client.

The main flower shown in the banner is in fact a Scottish thistle, chosen for its striking highlights and shadows, and also because it complemented many of the pictures Graham had decided to showcase up on the site. Some of the paintings shown are recreated from old black and white photography of the areas within the Highlands, and have been given a classic sepia tone effect to designate their age.

The client was made-up with the end result, and since going online has been successful in selling many prints to online visitors, friends, and family. It has also provided him with a platform to promote his work on a larger scale than the local galleries he had been showcasing at previously, and has allowed him to network with artists holding similar interests to his own.
